The explosion of modern explosives often occurs with the formation of black smoke, and explosions of black smoke powder (in historical pictures) and pyrotechnic tools occur with the emission of white smoke. This circumstance has to be taken into account when creating an imitation of explosions of ammunition (epoch, power, types of projectiles). The effect requires careful preparation and identification of possible hazardous areas. In the presence of actors and stunt men in a dangerous zone, it is necessary for the stunt director to participate in the development of such scenes. Simulation of explosions of shells in the water, especially in the presence of small boats and people in the water, is an extremely dangerous exercise, requiring special training of pyrotechnics and stuntmen, high coherence of the actions of the crew. Such works were carried out on the film "Brest Fortress".
Filming using pyrotechnic means is fire hazardous and conducted with the notification and participation of the regional emergency service and ambulance service.
