A real shock wave occurs when an explosion of munitions and/or blasting explosives is contained in them, and is one of the main striking factors of explosives used. In the film industry, pyrotechnic imitation devices that don't possess the phenomenon of detonation and have relatively low burning rates of pyrotechnic composition that used, as a result of which pyrotechnic tools are much safer than explosives and don't have a pronounced blast wave.
Feeling of an explosive wave in the frame is created by a directed effect on the objects in the frame (fragments of scenery, props) and their displacement in the given direction. This effect is created by pneumatic, mechanical and pyrotechnic tools depending on the tasks and possibly in the pavilion conditions (on chromakey). Due to low speed of impact on objects - it is possible to remove high-quality footage in rapid motion (film "Paragraph 78", director Mikhail Khleborodov, scene of an explosion of an underground base). When shooting the shock wave effect on the nature, pyrotechnic charges of high power and industrial explosives are allowed (the film "Test", directed by Alexander Kott).
In the presence of actors and stunt men in a dangerous zone, it is necessary for the stunt director to participate in the development of such scenes. Filming using pyrotechnic means is fire hazardous and conducted with the notification and participation of the regional emergency service and ambulance service.
