SBH in human, theatrical SBH, the effect of shrapnel and buckshot hits

...

Simulation of bullet hits (SBH) in humans (in clothes) differ in their expressiveness in contrast to real ones, for this purpose, a noticeably larger defect (hole) with or without artificial blood or dry pigment is made in the clothing. SBH can be performed using pyrotechnic, pneumatic and other methods, is activated by an electric pulse through wires or from a radio control panel, as well as from an electronic device synchronizing a shot from a model of a weapon with an SBH effect. Pyrotechnic simulator is the most common and convenient method of setting this effect. The advantage of this method is maximum expressiveness, the actor or stuntman hears the triggering of the SBH and successfully plays the wound. Careful preparation and a few duplicate costumes are required. The effect is read when shooting on a large and medium-large scale, on the general plan it is recommended to replace the blood with a dry pigment, so that it remains visible.

The effects of shrapnel and buckshot wounds are performed using a similar technology, the total load of pyrotechnic simulators can increase several times. This effect is performed by professional stuntmen.

When the SBH is placed on a naked human body, the plastic make-up pads are used to conceal technical nuances, or the effect is performed by pneumatic devices installed under make-up, or by a shot capsule with artificial blood at close range.

Theatral SBH are pyrotechnic and differ in that they don't leave holes in the suit and spray the blood on the inside of the suit, leaving a bright, readable for the viewer spot of artificial blood. Such SBHs were specially developed by our company and supplied to the theater "Lenkom", art director Mark Zakharov.

The pyrotechnic effect of imitation of a bullet hit is quite dangerous and requires highly skilled pyrotechnics. There are known cases of serious injuries by actors and other participants in the filming process with non-observance of safety precautions.
