Black and colored smokes are often created using pyrotechnic smoke chips for various purposes, and all of them emit different pigments (including soot) that create the necessary coloration of the smoke. These pigments can strongly color the skin and surrounding objects. The drafts of black smoke burn with an open flame, they throw out burning slag, are very explosivly and fire-dangerous. To create black/gray smoke, there are various hardware that can work for a long time on different types of fuel.
